Performance reviews are often the missing piece in the employee management puzzle, found at the bottom of the "To Do" pile of a busy employer.
Performance reviews are easy to avoid, especially when things with an employee are going well. So why do them?
- to help set expectations for employees
- to define a measurement of success
- to gauge an employee's performance
- to get feedback from the employee
- to set goals for the next review
The review is also an opportunity to give praise, reward, or notice of concern in a formal context. Performance reviews also provide documentation of employee performance in case of termination.
